Best Medigap Plans For You This 2018

Best Medigap Plans For You This 2018 Finance

For a regular monthly premium, Medigap is an additional health insurance policy that supplements Original Medicare. This auxiliary health insurance is provided only to those already enrolled in Medicare Parts A and B. Helping to manage expenses not covered by Original Medicare such as co-payments, co-insurance, and deductibles, the Medigap Insurance Plans comes at standardized rates (except in Massachusetts, Minnesota, and Wisconsin), and so is the coverage offered by various companies. What should be paid attention to, are the extra benefits and unique services that are extended by the companies.

While comparing Medigap Insurance Quotes, do remember to include: AARP Medicare Supplemental Insurance, Mutual of Omaha Medicare Supplemental Insurance, Transamerica Medicare Supplemental Insurance and Cigna Medicare Supplemental Insurance Plans.

The 10 Medigap Plans for 2018 are classified as A, B, C, D, F, G, K, L, M, and N. The 2018 Medicare Supplement Plan F, Plan G, and Plan N top the list. Apart from the core benefits of all Medigap plans, Plan N has a low premium, and any coinsurance will be 100% covered starting day 21 (the first 20 days are covered by Part A). In addition to covering deductibles over $1,300 per year, foreign travel emergency care up to plan limits are also covered. Plan G is similar to Plan N and offers all the same benefits, while also covering the extra charges of Medicare Part B. The Medicare Part B deductible is however not in the scope of Medigap Plan G. Medigap Plan F has all the benefits of Plan G and also covers Part B deductibles. While Medigap Plan F has a higher premium, the Medicare Supplement High Deductible Plan F has an affordable lower premium that makes the insured responsible for all out-of-pocket costs up to the annual deductible amount.

Comparing the same plan type between two companies gives the beneficiary an idea of why differences in pricing arise – Is the Medigap Plan issued in the Open Enrollment Period? Are any concessions offered? Is there a selection of service providers strictly stipulated by the Medigap policy?
